RTLS technology

What exactly is RTLS?

Real Time Location Tracking (RTLS) is a precise positioning application that can be used to locate and protect both administrative staff, visitors and/or patients, and company assets. Through constant communication between the system and the tags, the company receives immediate data on location and status. In Edintel we have this solution for the verticals in which we work: (Hospitality, Industry, Hospitality, Education, Offices, Corporate Centers, Airports / Transportation, Banking, Supermarkets).

Advantages of Active RFID

GuardRFID provides RTLS solutions using active RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology because it is one of the most stable methods of providing real-time location information. It also offers RFID technology using 433 MHz radio frequency. 433MHz is an unlicensed wireless radio frequency band that companies use specifically for RTLS. An advantage of operating with 433MHz radio frequency compared to 2.4GHz is the range and performance in the presence of absorbent material such as walls, metal objects and human bodies. 433 MHz tags work best in situations where the tags adhere directly to people.

Other types of frequencies are often used for area tracking when integrated into ID tags, wristbands or security cards, which detect where employees are at a specific time and date. Frequencies, such as 433 MHz, pass through the human body and are best when physical contact is not essential.

  • GuardRFID hardware infrastructure deployed at the customer site.
  • Enterprise-grade server software deployed on-premise or in the cloud.
  • Active RFID tags carried or attached to protected staff or patients.
  • Integration with third-party systems for data exchange, alarm generation and other purposes.
  • Mobile and desktop devices for users to monitor and control the solution.
  • Extensive set of reports that can be used for various diagnostic and regulatory purposes.

How GuardRFID RTLS works

Triangulation using 433MHz active RFID technology

Tag readers are installed at regular intervals to work together to provide tag location based on the relative intensity of the guides.

Exciters for room level, plant floor and rapid response situations

Tag exciters are installed at the entrances and exits of rooms, buildings and important locations to ensure identification of tags as they pass through the exciter field.

Access controllers and alarms

Tag reader controllers are connected to door and elevator controls to help monitor access and generate active alarm responses, such as lights and sirens.

Different customers for different needs

The GuardRFID RTLS solution includes the use of AllGuard software. Users can access the software from a desktop computer, web browser or mobile device for greater flexibility.

Variety of tags

GuardRFID provides labels of different sizes, weights and applications to meet your needs. You can choose tags with special features such as tamper detection, call alerts, motion detection and more.

ctive equipment tags

Asset tags are used to identify and track the location of important assets in your facility. After applying the tag to the physical asset and assigning it in the AllGuard software, you can track movement or temperature and receive alerts of potential theft. Asset tagging also helps automate inventory counts, while helping to combat shrinkage and maximize asset utilization.

At Edintel we have all of the above-mentioned solutions and offer different applications to meet the expectations of our customers in any of the business verticals. Some examples of applications are shown below.

We can mention that to improve the customer or collaborator experience in the Hospital vertical we can generate real-time alerts with active equipment tags, to determine if highly important equipment is taken without authorization from the different rooms within the hospital center. This will help to prevent theft in such a way that you can be sure that the equipment will be in place and functioning as it should and thus make the stay for hospital staff and patients a pleasant one.

An example for the industry vertical would be the use of the tag identification application through exciters, which will generate that industrial devices are strictly in place. This will allow personnel to work proactively and efficiently avoiding losses and generating real-time alerts of possible theft and maximize the proper use of all equipment.
